I used to love the Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series. I will still re-read the earlier novels, occasionally, and even recomend them. But I will not be buying any more new ones. As far as I'm concerned the series may as well have ended with Obsidian Butterfly, because that was the last one that wasn't all about sex. I was dissapointed with Cerullean Sins and Incubus Dreams, but I gave it another chance with Blood Noir, hoping that LKH may have finally gone back to writing good supernatural crime stories with a strong heroine... but alas, it was not to be.
Anita once again spent the majority of the book flat on her back, the poor victim of her out of control superpowers that make her have to have sex with anyone nearby with a pulse - pulse optional. What little plot the book had was thin and forgettable. There was no crime solving, very little character development, and very little to recomend in this lastest installment of "Who's in Anita's pants now?" LKH has turned her once dramatic, hard edged, and well written series into thinly disguised porn. And not very good porn at that.
I'm sad to see such a promising series die such an ignoble death.
